Nominator's project description

Professor Subramanian is a world-known expert for the origin and evolution of cosmic magnetic fields and their astrophysical importance. He has made fundamental contributions to the understanding of different types of cosmic batteries and dynamos that can amplify the fields to their observed strength. During his research in Germany, he will continue his studies of magnetohydrodynamical turbulence in different systems, and how magnetic fields control a wide variety of physical processes, from star formation to the acceleration and confinement of cosmic rays.
